Tenacre Foundation

Tenacre’s Christian Scientists-in-Residence program invites active Christian Scientists to join a community bound together by their love of Christian Science and desire to participate in Tenacre’s mission and ministries.

Just as an artist-in-residence brings artistic skills to an arts community, our residents share with Tenacre their rich and varied lives spent in loving God and man. We cherish their prayers, insights, and sharing which provide warmth and richness to our community canvas. In return, Tenacre is committed to encouraging and supporting their natural expression of independence and spiritual growth within the Tenacre community.

Studio and one- and two-bedroom cottages are located in a lovely wooded setting at the heart of Tenacre’s 65-acre campus. Each cottage includes an eat-in kitchen and private bath, as well as a washer/dryer, housekeeping services, linens, utilities and basic telephone service. In addition, each cottage has access to Tenacre’s 5-channel public address system that airs inspirational programming — including the Christian Science Bible Lesson — 24-hours a day, every day. The cottages can be furnished or unfurnished. If desired, meals can be taken in Tenacre’s sunny cafeteria-style dining room.

The Tenacre community includes a Spiritual Resource Library open to Christian Scientists-in-Residence 24 hours a day. It offers a collection of over 5000 study and resource books in an atmosphere that supports spiritual progress. During the summer months, Tenacre’s outdoor swimming pool is available to residents during the day. Scheduled transportation to church and shopping in Princeton is offered. The larger Princeton community — home to Princeton University, the Institute for Advanced Study, Princeton Theological Seminary, Westminster Choir College, The American Boychoir School, among other attractions — is wonderfully rich in cultural opportunities. Princeton is located midway between New York City and Philadelphia, both of which are easily accessible by public transportation.
